Eli Lilly is being sanctioned for statements made in an interview with a Swedish newspaper, in which a yet‑to‑be‑approved obesity drug is claimed to “stand in a class of its own”.

Eli Lilly was once again reported by its competitor Novo Nordisk to IGN (the Information Review Board) for breaching good industry practice in its marketing. A previous complaint was dismissed, as earlier reported.

This time, the criticism is directed at statements made by Patrik Jönsson, Executive Vice President Lilly International, in an interview with Swedish business daily Dagens Industri. In the interview, he commented on retatrutide, a drug under development for the treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes.
